how do you download videos?

You select a track, then click on the cog at the bottom right, then click on the list button under "Quality" then you select the quality and click on the "share" button. You should be able to save the raw video under  your web browser.

Will it be possible to see auto-generated subtitles in youtube videos someday? I'm not an english speaker, and this helps me a lot when I'm watching something, in special, more complicated/serious videos.

Yes, that's something I'd like to have at one point. I'm open to contributions on this matter: https://github.com/omega-gg/MotionBox

I see. Unfortunate for us, I don't have this knowledge to help; can only hope that this comes someday.

I already watch videos in potplayer (I used vlc, as you can guess, in the past), as it supports youtube, but it lacks the "browser stuff", which I have to do with another application (a feed program), and streamlink for twitch, so, it's kinda automated, but still not perfect (semi-automatic, I guess?)- and I am probably the only person in the world that does something like that.
